The Ardent, also known as the Ardent Faucon, was the third of the Faucon-class cruisers. She differed from her fellow Faucons in having no torpedoes, instead mounting more guns. Assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet, Capitaine Trelene's belligerence has earned her a reputation among the ships of other nations, who will typically clear for action upon sighting her.[1]

The "sourcebook fiction" work What Are Those Bloody Hatches? lists an unknown-class battleship named Ardent active in 1907. Given the uncertain canonicity of that source, it is difficult to know if the cruiser was given that name after the battleship was destroyed or decommissioned, or if that fictional work is no longer considered canon.
