Kingdom of Italy is one of the playable factions in Leviathans.
History[]
The Italians were relative latecomers to the Great Sky Race, and their approach to the matter was distinctive: unlike other Major Powers, the Italian leviathans were integrated into the Regia Marina in a combined-arms approach, both sea and sky.[1]
The Italians were quick to put their new vessels to use. Control of the Adriatic Sea was an ever-present point of contention between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.[2] To the west, Italy periodically tangled with the French Republic, including a notable incursion by a French flyer over Sicily.[3] Greece also clashed with Italy over the Adriatic.[4]
At the beginning of 1912, Italy took part in the Second Berlin Conference on Switzerland, and came away with part of the former Swiss Confederation, the Alps having been divided among Italy, the German Empire, the French Republic, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.[5]
Also around early 1912, the Italo-Turkish War was fought against the Ottoman Empire, a two-month affair in which the Italians used their technological advantage to force the Ottomans to sue for peace on unfavorable terms.[6]
