A Tesla coil was a resonant transformer that, among other uses, worked in concert with Electroid tanks to provide lift.
History[]
In 1891, Nikola Tesla demonstrated his "resonant transformer", later called a "Tesla coil", which generated high-frequency, high-voltage currents.[1][2]
At some point between 1897 and 1906, Tesla introduced a two-stage coil.[3]
Uses[]
While leviathans were able to fly without Tesla coils--HML Leviathan and Ganymède both taking flight the year before it was introduced--Tesla coils provided greater lifting ability[1], which increased with the introduction of the two-stage coil.[3][4]
Tesla coils were also used in elefacturies as part of the process of refining eteroid into electroid.[3]
Historical Notes[]
Tesla coils were used in radio and medicine until replaced by later oscillating vacuum tubes.
